Secrets from the Green Room: 2025 Festival Edition

In a special series, the Australian podcaster duo Irma Gold and Karen Viggers of Secrets from the Green Room chatted with some incredible writers about their experience of the writing and publishing process in honest, green-room style, uncovering some of the plain and simple truths, as well as some of the secrets.

This year again, Secrets from the Green Room recorded an exciting series of interviews right here in Ubud, of which a new episode will be released each week. Irma Gold and Karen Viggers sat down with Clare Wright, Jenny Erpenbeck, Lech Blaine, Yves Rees, Craig Leeson and Virginia Haussegger to share a green-room story. They uncover Bryan Brown’s funny festival request, thievery by one of Australia’s most famous authors, Jenny Erpenbeck’s props-room catastrophe, Annabel Crabb’s near miss, an unexpected diversion with David Attenborough, and how Virginia Haussegger burnt a hole in a green-room floor.
