We are thrilled that the visionary Founder and Director of our Festival, Janet DeNeefe, has been nominated for The Punch Sustainability Awards 2025.
Janet DeNeefe, author of Fragrant Rice, To Stir with Love, and Bali: Food of My Island Home, is a nominee in a celebration of sustainability leaders across 17 categories, each dedicated to making a positive impact on the island. DeNeefe, who is not only the driving force behind our Festival but also behind Ubud’s renowned establishments, including Casa Luna, Indus Restaurant, Casa Luna Cooking School, and Honeymoon Guesthouse and Bakery, together with her husband, Ketut, as been nominated in the category of Impact Hero of the Year. With more than three decades in Bali, she has become an integral part of the island’s rich cultural tapestry.
The Festival has also once again been nominated in the same awards for Impactful Event of the Year. Created in the wake of the 2002 Bali Bombings by Janet DeNeefe as a beacon of hope, the Festival was designed to rebuild both community spirit and the local economy after this tragic event. Since its inaugural edition in 2004, the Festival’s triumphant launch marked the beginning of a remarkable journey. Today, it stands as one of the world’s premier festivals, infusing vitality into Bali’s and Indonesia’s literary circles.
The Punch Sustainability Awards
The Punch Sustainability Awards 2024 recognises and celebrates Bali’s most inspiring individuals and businesses who are reshaping the island’s future. From conscious hotels and restaurants to social enterprises, creative entrepreneurs, and innovative brands, the nominees represent the heart of Bali’s sustainable movement, where purpose, creativity, and community come together to protect what makes the island extraordinary. The winners will be announced at The Punch Gala 2025 on Thursday, 11 December 2025.
