Salha Obeid

Salha Obeid is a fiction writer from the United Arab Emirates, who published her first short story collection Alzheimer in 2010, followed by The Happiness Messenger and A White Strand Implicitly, the latter winning the Al Owais Creativity Award in 2016. Salha received the UAE Youth Award for Creative Writing in 2017. Her novel Perhaps a Joke in 2018 reached the Sheikh Zayed Book Award longlist in 2021. A Creative Writing Certificate holder from the University of Palatski in 2017, she joined the Iowa International Writing Program in 2021. Her second novel, The Spice Circle in 2022, longlisted for IPAF 2023, is being translated by ELF Publishing for a 2026 Emirates LitFest launch.
