2026 Writing Retreat
Book your Spot

Set to take place from 21 to 24 March 2026, at Cap Karoso, a paradise on the Indonesian island of Sumba that feels like a well-kept secret, a five-star resort, this week-long writing adventure features a retreat led by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Geraldine Brooks that will give writers the tools and confidence they need to refine their writing.

The mornings kick off with writing sessions, where your thoughts can roam as freely as the ocean breeze that drifts through the open windows, aided by delightful morning tea. After letting those creative juices flow, dive into lunches that tantalize the senses.

The afternoons are where the magic happens. Picture this: swimming with horses in the cerulean watersm it’s not just a thrill; it’s an experience that etches itself into your memory.

When the sun begins to slip below the horizon, retreat to the spa for a treatment that washes away the dust of adventure, allowing relaxation to take the lead.

Geraldine Brooks was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction in 2006 for her second novel, March. Her novels Caleb’s Crossing and People of the Book were New York Times bestsellers, while her debut, Year of Wonders, is an international bestseller translated into more than 25 languages and is currently under option to Olivia Colman. Brooks’ latest novel, Horse, explores the intricate relationship between humans and horses through art and history, and her 2025 memoir, Memorial Days, delves into her personal journey and connections to family and culture. Both works highlight her vivid storytelling and deep emotional resonance.
