
Andrew Lam is a Vietnamese American author known for Perfume Dreams, Birds of Paradise Lost, East Eats West: Writing in Two Hemispheres, and Stories from the Edge of the Sea. With a long career in journalism, Andrew Lam has covered immigration, East-West relations, and the Vietnamese diaspora. He has won numerous awards, including the PEN Open Book Award, the Josephine Miles Literary Award, the Society of Professional Journalists Award for commentary, the UCI Medal of Honor for contributions to the humanities, and many others. His essays and short stories are widely anthologized and taught in high schools and colleges. He is currently working on a novel.
