Andrew Lam is a Vietnamese American author known for Perfume Dreams, Birds of Paradise Lost, East Eats West: Writing in Two Hemispheres, and Stories from the Edge of the Sea. With a long career in journalism, Andrew Lam has covered immigration, East-West relations, and the Vietnamese diaspora. He has won numerous awards, including the PEN Open Book Award, the Josephine Miles Literary Award, the Society of Professional Journalists Award for commentary, the UCI Medal of Honor for contributions to the humanities, and many others. His essays and short stories are widely anthologized and taught in high schools and colleges. He is currently working on a novel.

He has been nominated for the Lao She Literary Award, the 2014 Asia Weekly Top Ten Novels, and the American Newman Prize for Chinese Literature.

Theresa W. Devasahayam is a Singaporean family and gender anthropologist with over 25 years of experience researching Asian women’s lives. Her interest in the value of the girl child in Chinese culture began during her undergraduate studies, inspired by her mother’s adoption story. While primarily an academic writer, Theresa recognizes the power of storytelling to captivate the human imagination—connecting people’s experiences, perspectives, and values. Her book, Little Drops: Cherished Children of Singapore’s Past, shares the stories of 14 adoptees from Singapore and marks her first effort to reach a broader audience.
