Valley Stage

The right to have a voice and be heard is fundamental to human autonomy. What happens when oppressive regimes attempt to stifle these voices? We must hold together in the face of adversity, finding room for creativity and innovation even in the most oppressive of times. Speaker Saad Mohseni returned to Afghanistan to form a media network serving the nation through soft power, and can speak to the importance of the influence and pressure media may apply. Joining Saad is Clare Wright, who was adopted into the Datiwuy clan of the Yolŋu people in Yirrkala, and plays a key role in locating a missing petition. Moderated by Annelien De Greef, these speakers will walk us through their lived experiences to explore the art of being resourceful, and how the most innate human connections are formed through listening, connecting, and finding common ground. We will see that hope and perseverance always triumph in the face of trauma and hardship, when even only a few people are willing to stand for the truth.
