Yan Lianke, a prominent Chinese writer residing in Beijing, is acclaimed for his novels and short stories characterized by sharp satire. Despite gaining recognition, some of his most notable works faced bans. His writing journey commenced in 1978, and his repertoire includes influential works like Xia Riluo (夏日落), Serve the People (为人民服务), Enjoyment (受活), and Dream of Ding Village (丁庄梦). With over ten volumes of short stories, his literary prowess knows no bounds. Enjoyment, published in 2004, garnered widespread acclaim in China. Although his literature has reached audiences worldwide, certain works remain banned in China.
