Born in 1939, Putu Oka Sukanta is a writer and journalist who has written extensively about Indonesia’s political conditions and humanity. His trilogy of novels reflecting the face and character of the New Order: Threads of Dignity, The Turning Wheel, and Spaces, have been published in English by the Lontar Foundation, and translated by Keith Foulcher.
