Philip Cornwel-Smith is a Thai-based British author and journalist. He was a guidebook writer for Time Out and the founding editor of Bangkok’s first city magazine, Metro. His iconic book Very Thai: Everyday Popular Culture has so thoroughly influenced Thai art, design, and media that it became an artifact in six exhibitions. Its follow-up, Very Bangkok, re-interprets the city through multiple perspectives, senses, and subcultures. In 2021, it inspired the Bangkok Pavilion at Italy’s Countless Cities Biennale.
