Peter Murphy is a seafarer, internationally recognised maritime lawyer, and author. After 25 years at sea, he started his career as a distinguished maritime lawyer. He was sought-after as a speaker for International Bar Association and Inter-Pacific Bar Association conferences. He started his own law firm in Sydney in 2003 and practiced in Sydney, Melbourne, Dubai, London, and Utrecht. He is a prolific writer and has regular columns in Lloyds List, the Daily Commercial News, Fairplay, ‘Ships and Ports,’ ‘Sea Breezes’ and the ‘Master Mariner.’ He was awarded the Outstanding Achievement Award by the Company of Master Mariners of Australia in 2011 and delivered the Boulton Lecture in Sydney the following year.
