Country: Indonesia

Dr. Justin Wejak, with a PhD from the University of Melbourne, is an accomplished ethnographer who delved into philosophy in Indonesia and later pursued theology and anthropology in Australia. His doctoral research focused on autoethnographic analysis, exploring cultures of fear within Eastern Indonesian Catholics. Through an in-depth examination of an Indonesian propaganda text related to the 1965-66 killings of communists, he convincingly demonstrated that Eastern Indonesian Catholic experiences of fear are multi-faceted, encompassing elements of the secular, religious, and supernatural realms.
