Submission Guidelines


Please read the following guidelines carefully before submitting your book.

GENRES

The Ubud Writers & Readers Festival will feature works from various genres, including fiction, non-fiction, poetry, prose, novels, satire, and much more.

PUBLICATION DATE

Please note that to be eligible, books must be available for sale by 18 September to be considered for the 2022 Festival.

SUCCESSFUL ADMISSION FEES

Successful applicants will be required to pay an admission fee of AUD600 for International and IDR3,000,000 by September 2, 2022. Evidence of payment may be required.

SUBMISSION DEADLINE

August 12, for consideration for the upcoming Festival.

AGENTS AND REPRESENTATIVES

Agents and author representatives are encouraged to submit if they have the authors’ consent.

CO-AUTHORS

If several authors wish to participate, please submit the details of each author, including separate bios.

BOOK SALES

The Festival arranges the book sale at the Festivals bookshop and works together with local bookstores and booksellers, who will host the store at the venue.

PROMOTION AND PUBLICITY

Participants and their books are promoted widely through the Festival’s online channels and printed materials, and potentially in national and international media, as well as blogs, podcasts, social media, and networking sites.

PREVIOUS YEARS’ APPLICATIONS

In order to encourage diversity of Festival offerings, preference is given to authors who did not participate in the prior year’s Festival.

TRAVEL EXPENSES

Unless otherwise discussed in advance, speakers must commit to assuming the costs of their Festival participation if they are invited to take part, including travel and lodging.

DECISIONS

Application notifications will be provided by August 26.
