Wayan Karja is an acclaimed Balinese painter, art educator, and former Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design at ISI Denpasar. He has received various awards, including the Satya Lencana from the President of the Republic of Indonesia and special recognition from the Japanese politician Nakasone Yasuhiro. He is active in art restoration, research, workshops, and artist talks in various countries. Karja is known for his consistent exploration of intuitive and spiritual art based on Balinese cosmology, particularly the concepts of pangider bhuwana and the color mandala. Born in Ubud, he earned a Master of Fine Arts from the University of South Florida, pursued further studies at the European Graduate School in Switzerland, and completed his doctoral program at the Indonesian Hindu University in Denpasar.
