Garin Nugroho

Garin Nugroho is an award-winning Indonesian film director and pioneer of the New Indonesian Cinema. He works in both film and live performance, depicting the complexity of his country and its culture through various filmmaking styles and artistic disciplines. His works include short films, commercials, music videos, documentaries, theatre, performance art, and art installations. He has received numerous international awards, including the Order of Arts and Letters from France, the Stella D'Italia Cavaliere from Italy, an Honorary Award from the Singapore International Film Festival, the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Bangkok ASEAN Film Festival, and many more.
