No one ever thought Bali, island of the Gods, would be a victim of terrorism, but on 12 October 2002, two explosions rocked the streets of Kuta. This single act of terrorism was the catalyst that gave birth to the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival, and in 2022 we commemorate 20 years of the bombings. Our speakers share their experiences in dealing with this tragedy and how they cemented intercultural relationships after the event and helped the recovery of Bali post-bombings.
