The anthology Memayu Hayuning Bawana: Antologi Cerita Pendek Emerging Writers 2022 is a bilingual publication of short stories from ten emerging writers from this year’s Festival. In response to various surrounding themes, they develop dense and captivating stories using aesthetic explorations, dexterous language, narrative composition, and foresight. The anthology series represents a massive opportunity for the emerging writers to have their work translated into English, opening the door to international opportunities for the first time. Let their words reach every corner of the globe.
Balinese artist Ni Luh Pangetsu created the #UWRF22 Festival artwork by combining the techniques of carving, manual colouring, and colouring. The ‘cukil’ trail becomes the dominant element that forms the work. The practice of carving is a meditative process that requires a high level of concentration using a knife. Intricate lines form a figure whose lifeforce is woven into the landscape to create a rich and animated realm.
