Yayasan Mudra Swari Saraswati is an independent, not-for-profit foundation committed to enriching the lives and livelihoods of Indonesians through a range of community-building arts, cultural, and culinary programs. The goal of the Foundation is to help fulfill the creative needs of Indonesia, its individuals, and its communities while showcasing its cultural diversity – both traditional and contemporary – to the world. It achieves this through its core initiatives, Ubud Writers & Readers Festival and Ubud Food Festival, both held in Ubud.

The Ubud Writers & Readers Festival (UWRF) is an annual literature festival that brings together a broad and engaged community around the sharing of books, writing, and ideas. Since its first edition in 2004, UWRF has become Southeast Asia’s biggest and most beloved literary Festival. In the company of writers, novelists, poets, journalists, public intellectuals, politicians, and artists from Indonesia and beyond, some of the most pressing issues of our times have been discussed. 

The Ubud Food Festival (UFF) is three days of cross-cultural culinary discovery with Indonesian food as the star. Spanning special events, cooking demos, food tours, talks, workshops, masterclasses, music, and arts performances, films, markets, and more, the Festival celebrates the diversity and deliciousness of Indonesia’s culinary landscape. Tempting thousands of food lovers from all over the world, UFF is now the region’s leading culinary Festival and a must-attend event on the region’s events calendar. 


Reporting to the Marketing & Communications Manager, the Junior Digital Marketing Specialist is helping Nhis hands-on role drives original content, Social Media campaigns, community engagement, and email marketing, alongside other festival activities and initiatives to build the online community and generate excitement about both Festivals. The role also includes website management and project assistance in the development of the online presence of both festivals. 


  • In consultation with the Marketing & Communications Manager, plan and execute integrated digital campaigns for both festivals to engage new and existing audiences
  • Develop and maintain a digital marketing calendar, content plan, and social media strategy across both organic and paid to support the overarching both festival marketing campaigns
  • Monitor and moderate UWRF and UFF social media channels to drive meaningful engagement and exchange and ensure organizational responsiveness
  • Assist the Head of Marketing & Communications with its new website project, including content creation, testing, and deployment of the latest online presence. 
  • Contribute to the management and implementation of Email Marketing content through MailChimp, reporting on a range of different mailing lists
  • Ensure a consistent tone of voice and cohesive festivals narratives are used across web, email, and social channels
  • Manage film content, including relationships with external video content producers, to realize UWRF and UFF content opportunities
  • Oversee digital campaign artwork and roll-out for website, social media assets, video, and content with a Graphic Designer
  • Copyright and oversee customer service messages and emails in consultation with key internal staff across ticketing and marketing
  • Provide monthly reporting insight of social media and other online marketing chanel 
  • Other reasonable duties as required


  • Bachelor’s degree related to Marketing and/or Communications with a minimum of two years of relevant work experience (within the arts and events industries highly regarded)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and Indonesian
  • Digitally savvy with an in-depth knowledge of digital marketing channels, including the latest platforms and trends, and websites, and an understanding of developing social media content
  • Experience in the use of e-communications platforms such as Shopee and Tokopedia and content management systems such as WordPress
  • Strong writing skills and ability to create content and copy with minimal direction and correction
  • Open to working off-business hours occasionally as needed, especially around UWRF and UFF Festivals’ schedule of events.
  • Ability to work in a busy work environment with a high level of time and stress management during the festival periods
  • Ability to manage several tasks and projects simultaneously
