Saut Poltak Tambunan is a celebrated Indonesian writer known for his poetry, short stories, novels, screenplays, and literary essays. Several of his novels have been adapted to the screen in films and soap operas. After participating in the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival 2012, he began pioneering Batak writing and became the first recipient of the Rancage Literary Award for Batak Literature in 2015 and 2017. In 2020, he was awarded for being a Regional Language Preservation Figure by the Indonesian Ministry of Education and Culture.
Saut Poltak Tambunan dikenal sebagai sastrawan nasional Indonesia melalui karya puisi, cerita pendek, novel, skenario, dan esai sastra. Beberapa novelnya telah diangkat ke layar film dan sinetron. Usai mengikuti Ubud Writers & Readers Festival 2012, ia beralih merintis penulisan sastra Batak dan menjadi orang pertama penerima penghargaan Sastra Rancage dari sastra Batak 2015 dan 2017.
