The definition of ‘woman’ in the Indonesian dictionary has recently been reviewed due to its derogatory meaning that simply describes a reproductive person. While this is a strong starting point, the current narrative of women in the media is also in need of critical attention. A leading voice in this discussion is Indonesian visual artist Ika Vantiani. She invites us to look back at the meaning with a critical eye and unpack the application of the word through a fun collage workshop. Everyone is invited to get involved and expand their understanding of what it means to be a woman.
