Kylie Moore-Gilbert, a scholar of Middle Eastern and Islamic Studies, tells of her false imprisonment in Iran from September 2018 to November 2020. Her memoir The Uncaged Sky is a detailed, beautifully written, and heartbreaking account of resilience that intimately shares her harrowing experience. Pushed to the edge of human endurance, her only salvation was the covert friendships she made with other prisoners, as well as her quest for freedom. Her experience has set her on a journey to raise awareness of these injustices and emancipate others still held captive.
