Eleven weeks after Diponegoro’s detention on March 28, 1830, in Magelang, every conversation with Pangeran Diponegoro was recorded by three Dutch military officers assigned to escort his journey into exile in Sulawesi. The fourth conversation, which is much shorter, was written by the youngest son of the Dutch Crown Prince, who was later appointed King of the Netherlands, Willem II, and Prince Hendrik. This book Percakapan dengan Diponegoro examines all the conversations. Written frankly and charmingly, it is, for the first time, translated into Indonesian and historical context. As an important source for any biography of Pangeran Diponegoro, these records open with a biographical essay that explores the position of the “outsiders inside” the four officers conversing with the Prince.
