An intimate portrait of the people and issues that have made Malaysiakini one of the most important media institutions in Southeast Asia, the book is based on more than fifteen years of observation of newsroom practices. Focusing on the history of modern Malaysia through the lens of Malaysiakini, it illustrates how ‘sensitive’ issues such as race, religion, politics, and citizenship get worked out within Malaysia‚Äôs only truly independent newsroom.
