Maria Hartiningsih was a Kompas journalist from 1984–2015. She was the first journalist to accept the Yap Thiam Hien Award for Human Rights in the Human Rights Educator category (2003). She wrestled with issues of humanity, diversity, equality, peace and spirituality from a critical perspective. Jalan Pulang is one of her non-fiction books.

Maria Hartiningsih adalah jurnalis Kompas dari 1984-2015. Ia adalah jurnalis pertama yang menerima Penghargaan Yap Thiam Hien untuk Hak Asasi Manusia dalam kategori Pendidik Hak Asasi Manusia (2003). Ia bergelut dengan masalah kemanusiaan, keragaman, kesetaraan, perdamaian dan spiritualitas dari perspektif kritis. Jalan Pulang adalah salah satu  buku non-fiksinya.
