Clemantine Wamariya’s bestselling memoir The Girl Who Smiled Beads describes her journey from idyllic childhood in Rwanda, to seeking refuge in eight African countries, to receiving refugee status in the US in 2000. A Yale University graduate, she has appeared on The Oprah Show four times and was appointed by President Obama to the board of the US Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2016.
