
Lily Yulianti Farid, story writer and journalist who was born and raised in Makassar, South Sulawesi. She has published a collection of short stories in Indonesian Makkunrai (March, 2008) and Maiasaura (June, 2008), and invited to read and discuss her work at numerous festivals, including Ubud Writers and Readers Festival (2008), Indonesian Night Market Literary Festival, Paris (2008), the Singapore Writer `s Festival (2009), Biennale Utankayu Literary Festival (2009), NT Wordstorm Writer`s Festival, Darwin Australia (2010). She founded the citizens journalism site www.panyingkul.com (2006) and launched Makkunrai, gender awareness programs through literature and art of the stage with a stage actor / director Luna Vidya (2008).
As a journalist she joined the Daily Compass, Radio Japan NHK Tokyo and is now working for for Radio Australia, Australian Broadcasting Corporation in Melbourne. She is currently a student majoring in gender studies and media at the University of Melbourne. She received the Australian Development Scholarship (2001-2003), the Australian Alumni Award finalist field of media (2009) and the Australian Leadership Award (2010).
‘Family Room’, a collection of short stories translated into English by John McGlynn and published Lontar Foundation, was launched with a number of other literary works in Modern Indonesian Literature at UWRF in 2010. Now lives with her husband and daughter in Melbourne, Australia.
