UWRF is seeking an International Program Consultant

Now in its seventeenth year, the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival is Southeast Asia’s leading Festival of words and ideas, bringing together writers, artists and activists from across Indonesia and the world. The International Program Consultant reports to the Festival Founder and Director and works closely with Festival management to design and deliver the event: a main program of panels, in conversations and other forums, plus a range of additional events including ticketed special events, book launches, writing and cultural workshops, live music and arts.The International Program Consultant needs to develop strong working relationships with the Festival’s partnership, marketing and production teams to ensure successful event delivery.

Essential skills and attributes:

  • Self-motivation, flexibility and enthusiasm for team work;
  • Strong project management experience including planning, execution, documentation and evaluation, preferably in a literary or arts programming environment;
  • An interest in contemporary political, literary and social issues, both locally and globally;
  • Knowledge of writers’ networks, communities and publishing houses, locally and internationally;
  • The ability to attract and communicate professionally with acclaimed and highly regarded writers;
  • Resourceful, with a positive attitude to problem solving;
  • Strong written and interpersonal communications skills and experience in cross-cultural communications, ideally in a cross-cultural workplace.
  • Experience working in Indonesia or Southeast Asia is desirable;
  • Experience working in a non-profit environment highly regarded.
