Benefits of the Festival
Economic
The Ubud Writers & Readers Festival works to promote tourism and to foster a positive image of Bali and Indonesia abroad. The importance of this role was highlighted following the second Bali bombings in 2005.
The Festival provides a welcome boost to the morale of the Balinese people and to the local tourism industry and receives immense support from local restaurants, hotels and other businesses, which appreciate the benefits of the Festival for the local community. By joining with the Festival your company can assist in rebuilding the positive image of Bali internationally.
Political
By supporting the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival you will benefit by strengthening the goodwill and understanding between Indonesia and your company or organization’s country of origin. Your support of the Mudra Swari Saraswati Foundation, the non-profit, community arts organization that hosts the Festival, will make you a leading role model in corporate social responsibility in South East Asia.
The positive outcomes associated with your support include the opportunity to develop new contacts and networks in the region and build new audiences and revenue streams. The positive media you will recoup from the Festival will improve your corporate image both within Indonesia and abroad. Several international organizations have already joined with the Festival and are reaping the benefits of their involvement. We hope you will join us too.
Social
The Festival is a key part of the Saraswati Foundation’s strategy to foster an interest in reading and writing among Indonesia’s youth and improve literacy skills. The Festival offers an extensive, world-class writing and cultural program for children and has been a major sponsor of the Saraswati Foundation.
The Ubud Writers & Readers Festival also provides a platform for Indonesian and South East Asian writers to showcase their work to an international audience that includes journalists, publishers and festival directors. Many Indonesian writers have benefited from their involvement in the Festival and have gone on to present their work at other Festivals abroad. The Festival aims to become the gateway for emerging Indonesian and South East Asian writers to western publishers and markets.
